We invite you to come with us for a week long discovery tour to one of the Dominican Republic's most popular destinations - the North Coast, also referred to as the Amber Coast because of its rich deposits of semi-precious amber.

This stretch of coast, spanning from Puerto Plata to the Samaná Peninsula, offers a beautiful and varied coastline, the purest white sand beaches, shimmering ocean vistas, tiny islands, verdant rich green mountains, and valleys speckled with streams and waterfalls. The Coast offers some of the best wind and kite-surfing in the world, miles of palm lined beaches, year round golf on world class golf courses, diving, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking and hiking. We will visit Sosua and trendy Cabarete, both bustling centers with all kinds of activity. We will explore the Samaná Peninsula, including Las Terrenas, a wonderfully laid-back fishing village. We will then drive across the peninsula to the city of Santa Bárbara de Samaná. There you will see first hand the world class pristine beaches of this area while exploring several superb properties currently available.

Your Tropical Pathways Investment Tour begins:

√ Upon arrival at the International airport of Puerto Plata you will be greeted by a Tropical Pathways representative who will assist with your transfer to your hotel in Sosua.

√ In the evening, you will enjoy cocktails as our guests while you get to know the other travelers in your group.

√ The next morning, after breakfast, you will meet with experts who will share with you the do's and don'ts of investing and living in the Dominican Republic. Knowledgeable lawyers, developers, realtors, and expatriates will explain how to start a business, apply for residency, take advantage of tax laws, open a bank account -- in short, everything you need to know to begin your new life.

√ After lunch we will explore and look at real estate with a local realtor in Sosua, Cabarete and surrounding areas. This vibrant area is amongst other things, famous amongst kite-surfers for its ideal conditions for surfing and kite surfing. Here we will see a variety of "value for money" real estate offerings: Studio apartments; Condos; Villas on the beach & with ocean views; or, if you are so inclined, building lots to build the house of your dreams. 

√ We will then travel, via the excellent coastal highway, to the uniquely lush Samaná Peninsula which was voted as one of the 25 best locations in the world in the December 2001 issue of Condé Naste Traveler magazine. Described by Christopher Columbus as "the most beautiful land in the world" the Samaná Peninsula is often referred to as the jewel in the crown of the Dominican Republic.

√ We will visit the charming little town of Las Terrenas with its miles of undeveloped white sandy beaches and meet with a local realtor, who will show you a variety of real estate available in the area. With so many opportunities for low cost real estate investment, we have set aside plenty of time for you to explore the area and experience the local flavor which offers dozens of quaint hotels, mouth-watering bakeries, top-class restaurants with International menus, shops, Internet cafes, and supermarkets. With over 2000 expatriates who have settled here in the last three decades, it is not uncommon to hear English, French, German, Dutch or Italian. Although fishing is still an important part of social life, this tropical paradise in the past few years has become a prime destination for visitors and has seen an unprecedented demand for real estate.

√ After this visit we will take a one hour drive to the city of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, or Samaná, for short. This port town overlooks the country's largest bay, Bahia de Samaná. The bay is a major attraction for many visitors who come to see the amazing Humpback whales, seen in the hundreds each year as they migrate to the warm and protected waters of the Bay to nurse their young and mate. Other attractions include a visit to Cayo Levantado , or 'Bacardi Island' - the island used in the famous 1970's Bacardi rum commercials; or to Playa Rincón, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.  

√ In Samaná Bay we will see a new development that boasts its own private beach with condos starting at an amazing $125,000. After viewing a few more properties we will be ready to retire for the day to a lovely small family owned hotel located right by the sea in the fishing village of Las Galeras. Here you can enjoy a meal at the hotel's restaurant or try one of the 10 small restaurants and bars in the village or venture out to explore the two discos playing meringue, salsa and bachata.

√ The following day we will return to the Sosua and Cabarete area and for the remainder of the week continue to look at what is available in this area. You'll be pleased with the extensive collection at reasonable prices, which include full amenity developments sporting every convenience, right on the magnificent white sand beach.

√ Sunday after breakfast, you will be transferred to the International Airport for your flight home.

√ Throughout your tour, breakfasts and lunches are included -- you'll find that the restaurants and bars provide friendly service, and bountiful offerings sure to please every pallet. The locals are friendly, and eager to share stories about their beautiful island.
